Dynamics of a Pipeline Span on an Elastic Seabed

چکیده
Natural frequencies, mode shapes and modal damping ratios must be estimated to assess subsea pipeline spans for vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) response direct wave loading. Several approximate solutions exist a linearly elastic pipe under constant axial force supported by springs beyond the span's shoulders. An exact analytical solution has only recently been published. That is used here in Rayleigh-Ritz approximation account arch action arising from combined effects of sag gravity loads restraint at The method allows survey data directly quantify action. Its accuracy confirmed finite element analysis. Further, ratio based on fractions potential energy bending, force, soil springs, all which are determined analytically. Thus, it found that effective increases without bound as load approaches buckling compression.

An Influence of Trench Formation on Steel Catenary Risers Based on a Hysteretic Nonlinear Seabed Model
A steel catenary riser (SCR) attached to a floating platform at its upper end encounters fluctuations in and near its touchdown zone (TDZ), which causes the interaction with the seabed. Subsea surveys and the analysis of SCR’s indicated that the greatest stress and highest damage occurred near the touchdown point (TDP), where the SCR first touches the seabed. Nowadays, the linear seabed spring ...

متن کاملSubsea Free Span Pipeline Damage Detection Based on Wavelet Transform under Environmental Load
During their service life, marine pipelines continually accumulate damage as a result of the action of various environmental forces. Clearly, the development of robust techniques for early damage detection is very important to avoid the possible occurrence of a disastrous structural failure. Most of vibration-based damage detection methods require the modal properties that are obtained from mea...
متن کاملDynamic Response of an Offshore Pile, a Poro-Elastic Seabed and Seawater due to Water Waves
In this study, a coupled model is developed to address the dynamic response of an offshore pile to linear water waves. In the coupled model, the pile and the seabed are treated as a saturated poro-elastic medium described by Biot’s dynamic theory, while the seawater is considered as a conventional acoustic medium. To establish the coupled model, boundary element formulations for saturated porou...
متن کاملAccidental Limit State of Submarine Pipeline: Trawl Gears Pull-Over Loads and Effect of Free Span
Submarine pipelines failures lead to oil spills in water and may even lead to explosions with heavy financial and environmental damages. Trawl gear is one of the main factors in the failure of the submarine pipelines. In this paper, sensitivity analysis is performed on influence of height and span length alternations on the response of pipeline against the traction caused by trawling pull-over ...
